About

I’m a medical biotechnology graduate from the Higher Institute of Medical Technologies of Tunis. My work centers on molecular biology, virology, and bioinformatics, with research experience at the Pasteur Institute of Tunis focusing on rabies virus detection using real-time RT-PCR. I’m passionate about advancing diagnostic technologies and using biotechnology to make healthcare more precise, accessible, and innovative.

Experience

Intern - Rabies Laboratory

Feb 2025 - May 2025

Pasteur Institute of Tunis

  • Processed 81 brain tissue samples under controlled temperature conditions (+4°C, 37°C, room temperature) for 1, 3, and 7 days

  • Performed direct immunofluorescence assay (IFD) using fluorescent antibodies for rabies virus detection

  • Extracted viral RNA using QIAGEN and PROMEGA kits and conducted Real-Time RT-PCR using the LightCycler 480 systems

  • Achieved 100% sensitivity and specificity for rabies virus detection in putrefied samples

  • Performed Real-Time RT-PCR, starting with preparation of the reaction mix, arranging samples on PCR plates, and finishing with analysis using the LightCycler 480 system

  • Conducted bioinformatics analysis using BioEdit and MEGA: identified mutations, constructed phylogenetic trees, and assessed rabies virus strain diversity in Tunisia

Intern - Virology Laboratory

Jun 2024 - Jul 2024

Pasteur Institute of Tunis

  • Retrieved and organized approximately 30 SARS-CoV-2 samples from the freezer, ensuring accurate tracking across multiple tubes using a detailed log sheet

  • Defrosted all 30 samples to preserve viral RNA integrity

  • Performed conventional and real-time PCR to detect and quantify viral RNA

  • Purified RNA for downstream molecular analyses, such as standard sequencing

Intern - Biochemistry Laboratory

Jun 2023 - Jul 2023

University Hospital of Gabes

  • Collected 130 patient blood samples using sterile techniques, ensuring accurate labeling and identification

  • Separated plasma from cellular components via centrifugation and transferred to secondary tubes for biochemical analysis

  • Performed quantitative measurements of blood components (glucose, urea, creatinine, liver enzymes) using an automated analyzer

  • Verified instrument calibration and reagent availability to ensure accurate and reliable test results

Education

Bachelor in Medical Biotechnology

2022 - 2025

Higher Institute of Medical Technologies - Manar Campus

  • Integrated Preparatory Cycle in Health Biotechnology Engineering

  • Grade: 13.82

  • Courses: Molecular Biology, Microbial Genetics, Human Genetics, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Fluid Mechanics

  • Thesis topic: Diagnosis of rabies from putrefied samples using molecular biology: application of real-time RT-PCR
